The Ashta Siddhis are eight supernatural powers described in Hinduism, which are believed to be attainable through dedicated spiritual practice and mastery over the self. These siddhis are mentioned in several ancient texts, including the "Patanjali Yoga Sutras." Hanuman, the devout follower of Bhagwan (Lord) Rama in the epic "Ramayana," is said to have possessed these siddhis. 

These siddhis are significant because they represent the ultimate control over the physical world, which is seen as a manifestation of spiritual perfection in Hindu philosophy. In the context of the "Ramayana," Hanuman's possession of these siddhis is a testament to his advanced yogic powers, devotion, and strength.

In the epic, these siddhis play a crucial role in the defeat of Ravana and the rescue of Sita. For example:

• Anima and Mahima: Hanuman used these siddhis to become small enough to enter the city of Lanka undetected and to become gigantic during the burning of Lanka.
• Garima: He became extremely heavy when captured in Lanka, making it impossible for the demons to move him.
• Laghima: This allowed him to fly across the ocean to reach Lanka in search of Sita.
• Prapti: Hanuman's ability to reach Lanka also demonstrates this siddhi, as he could obtain the location of Sita against all odds.
• Prakamya: This siddhi helped Hanuman to achieve his goal of finding Sita and delivering Rama's ring to her.
• Ishitva and Vashitva: These siddhis gave Hanuman the power to command and control various elements and beings, which he used to help Rama's army in the battle against Ravana.
